1. Never use intimacy as a way to control your partner.
Intimacy should never become a tool for manipulation, punishment, or getting what you want. Withholding affection to control someone or pressuring a partner into something they do not want can seriously damage trust. A healthy relationship allows both people to express their feelings honestly and make decisions freely.

2. Do not ignore your partner’s boundaries.
Love requires respect. If one person feels uncomfortable with something, their feelings should be taken seriously. Consent and mutual willingness are essential parts of a healthy relationship. Being married or being in a committed relationship does not mean that one person has unlimited rights over the other person’s body.

3. Avoid comparing your relationship with others.
Every couple is different. Comparing your intimate life with what you see online, hear from friends, or watch in movies can create unrealistic expectations and unnecessary insecurity. What matters most is building a relationship based on communication, trust, and the values shared by both partners

4. Do not allow shame to replace communication.
Christian couples may sometimes struggle to talk openly about intimacy because they feel embarrassed or afraid of being judged. However, silence can create misunderstandings and emotional distance. Partners should be able to discuss their feelings, concerns, expectations, and boundaries respectfully and without humiliation.

5. Never sacrifice emotional connection for physical intimacy.
A strong relationship is not built only on physical attraction. Kindness, affection, forgiveness, companionship, prayer, communication, and emotional support are equally important. When couples invest in these areas, intimacy can become a natural expression of a deeper connection.
