I married the old man to save my father. I had no choice.
It all started out all of a sudden. My father was always a strong and healthy man, but one day he collapsed. The doctors said we need an emergency surgery. The amount was so high, my eyes went dark. I had no money, no relatives, no choice. I was alone.
And that’s when he came into our lives.
An old friend of my father’s. They once studied at school together. I only knew him as hearing it from the ear. My dad used to say it was weird, withdrawn, even scary when I was a kid. But then it was said that everything was all right: work, money, connections.
He suddenly appeared like he was waiting for this moment.
He listened to me calmly, insensitive. Then he said he could pay for the whole surgery. Completely.
But it’s not free. He’s got conditions. I had to marry him and sign the papers that I would never tell him what was going on at his house.
