Early in the morning, the whole unit gathered at the training camp.
The soldiers remained perfectly aligned under a scorching sun. Absolute silence reigned. Everyone felt that something out of the ordinary was about to happen.
In the middle of the courtyard there were only two people.
The colonel and a young recruit named Ana.
The girl had arrived in the unit just a few days earlier. She had graduated with honors from the military academy, was an exceptional shooter, completed each exercise earlier than planned, and never complained, however harsh the conditions.
However, already on his second day a confrontation with the colonel emerged.
During a training session, a soldier suffered a serious fall after missing a jump and violently hitting his back against the ground.
The colonel ordered the exercise to continue.
“He will stand up alone. It’s not that bad,” he said coldly.
But Ana left the formation and ran straight to the wounded soldier.
He needs medical attention.
“Go back to your post immediately!” cried the colonel.

For the colonel, that response was a public humiliation. No one had ever dared to challenge his authority before all unity.
A few days later he decided to teach him a lesson.
He ordered all the soldiers to be reunited again in the courtyard and, when they were trained, he called Ana in front.
The young woman advanced with serenity. His long dark braid almost reached his waist. Everyone knew how important it was for her to take care of her hair.
